WHY?
The need is critical: An estimated 912,938 people in the United States are living with, or are in remission from, leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma or myeloma. Every four minutes, someone new is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies.
Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children under the age of
20. Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers and incidence increases with age.
The survival rate for myeloma is only 37.1 percent. Incidence is nearly twice as high
among African Americans as for all other races.
HOW?
It started off simply... a postcard in the mail, turning 30, a way to tackle my first triathlon, a way to show support of my lifelong friend.
WHAT?
It has become 6 years of fundraising to help find a cure for blood cancers, sprint triathlons, olympic triathlons, century rides, participating, mentoring, coaching, and now a 1/2 Ironman.
WHO?
Paul & I, together this time, training and fundraising as a team.
GOAL!!!
$10,000
1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.2 mile run...FINISH!
Stay tuned to be a part of our journey.
